Another year gone by, and today is yet another Bat Day according to my book "365 Days of Nature"! So all you bat fanatics out here, today is the day of the year to go all-out in bat-love and show your appreciation.
Do you have a favorite species? Favorite artwork on a site somewhere? Do you have an occupied bat house? A bat character? Maybe you just recognise all the great things these masters of the night sky do for our environment when the birds have gone to sleep. Happy Bat Day to you!
My favorite species currently (as there are so many) is the
Vampyrum spectrum species of South America's jungles, known for their recognized intelligence, family-oriented nature, impressive hunting range, and being a tropical giant of the evening. They also posess my two favorite features of any bat: large ears and a spear-like schnoz.
If no one's seen this pic yet, check it out! Real good quality too.
